Guangdong-Taiwan Economic/Tech Fair Opens

The third Guangdong-Taiwan Economic/Tech Fair raised its curtain Wednesday in Dongwan, Guangdong Province. There are as many as 2,000 Taiwan businessmen attending the gathering, including an attendance of nearly 1000 Taiwanese having been here for the first time.

From January to May this year, economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and Taiwan has increased with an actual capital amount of US$ 230 million having been used from Taiwan, showing a year-on-year growth of 37.1%. There are already over 500 Taiwan enterprises that have settled in Guangdong, with an import/export amount over US$5 billion.

Governor Lu Ruihua with Guangdong, executive Vice President Tang Subei with the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and Mayor of Dongwan Li Jinwei were present at the opening ceremony.
