U.S. Delphi Promotes Long-Term Development in China

The U.S. Delphi Automotive Systems Corp., a world leading auto parts manufacturer, has just opened a customer service center in Shanghai.

J. T. Battenberg III, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of the company, referred to the move as part of Delphi' s long-term development plan in China.

"We have full confidence in the Chinese auto market and will further increase cooperation with our Chinese partners," he said.

Delphi entered China in 1993 and has since invested more than US$ 400 million in 15 plants, a technological center and a training center in China.

Last year, Delphi generated US$ 370 million in industrial output on the Chinese mainland.

Battenberg said that China's recent endeavor to improve infrastructure and to enter into the World Trade Organization will create more chances for the auto industry.

He spoke highly of the Chinese government's effort to maintain a smooth growth of the auto industry, saying this will lay a sound foundation for its future development.
