New Power Units to Ease Shortage of Power in Capital

Electricity shortages in Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan will be eased by 2002 as two new power units will generate electricity.

Panshan Power Plant, in Jixian county of Tianjin, has received nearly 2.2 billion yuan (265 million U.S. dollars) of loans from the Bank of China to start its second phase of construction.

The two power units are designed with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts.
