China, Britain to Construct Science Building

China and Britain will invest more than 300 million US dollars in constructing a group of "intelligence buildings", known as "Project Oasis" in Shanghai.

The buildings aim at attracting talented people engaged in research and development of computer software, network and telecommunication technology.

The buildings, to be constructed in both Chinese and British architectural styles, will have a floor space of 460,000 square meters and its surrounding environment will have a greenery coverage of 50 percent.

Investors in the project include Caohejing New Technology Development Zone, British companies EruoMandarin Ltd, Arlington Securities Plc. The Chinese and British sides each hold 50 percent of the shares. EuroMandarin Ltd. is a joint venture of British BAE systems and the First Mandarin Ltd. of Hong Kong.

With more than 300 hi-tech companies and over 20 research centers, Caohejing New Technology Development Zone is one of the country's national-level development zones.
