China Holds International Seminar on Law Enforcement

An international seminar on China's law enforcement opened Tuesday in Mianyang, a major city in southwest China.

Said to be the first of its kind in China, the three-day seminar is jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.

Organizers said the purpose of the seminar is to improve China' s legal system and to help China achieve a better understanding of laws related to the World Trade Organization.

China now has more than 30,000 laws and regulations, which are playing an important role in safeguarding the country's market economy development.
