South China Province Destroys Illegal Video Products
Thousands of illegal audio and video products were destroyed Tuesday in the suburb of Changsha, capital of south China's Hunan province.
According to the local cultural administration, similar actions were also taken in other major cities of the province in an effort to clean up the market.
Local authorities have destroyed more than 600,000 unlawful audio and video products, including some 13,000 pornographic items, the administration said.
They also confiscated 245 video game machines that are forbidden under Chinese law, the source said.
"This is the largest crackdown on illegal audio and video products in the history of Hunan," said Li Yiheng, a senior provincial law official in Hunan.
"We will continue our efforts to clean up the cultural market by eliminating all smuggled, pirated or pornographic audio and video products," Li said.
