NTT DoCoMo Opens Beijing office

Japan's biggest mobile telephone company NTT DoCoMo Inc. said it had opened a representative office in Beijing Tuesday to beef up ties with Chinese wireless operators.

"The office will actively establish mutual cooperative relations with Chinese mobile communication operators and conduct technical exchanges and joint studies with research institutes and universities," DoCoMo said.

The Japanese company has been exchanging views with Chinese firms, academics and the Ministry of Information Industry on next-generation mobile telecommunications, which it plans to launch in Japan next spring.

The representative office would cement the technical and information exchanges, DoCoMo said in a statement.

The office is headed by Noboru Sano, 51, formerly executive director of DoCoMo's global business department in Tokyo.
