6th China Petroleum Conference to Be Held in BeijingThe Sixth China Petroleum Conference, whose theme focuses on the restructuring and funding of China's petroleum industry, will be held on June 29 in Beijing.Wu Jinglian, senior research fellow with the State Council Development Research Center is to address the conference on establishing globally competitive modern enterprises. Shi Xingquan, vice president of PetroChina, will speak on China 's west-to-east gas project and its investment opportunities. On the eve of the conference, Wu, also a non-executive board member of PetroChina, said that PetroChina had a successful initial public offering on the international capital market thanks to its powerful reorganization drive and investor-oriented commitment. PetroChina stands as a symbol of reforming state-owned enterprises (SOEs), setting an example for other large SOEs. He said that the listing of PetroChina was not only for the purpose of raising funds, but also for building a powerful and vigorous modern petroleum enterprise able to meet the requirements of the market economy in line with international practice. More than 100 experts and scholars from Sinopec, Cnooc, Exxon, BP, Goldman Sachs and Anderson Consulting Co. will attend the conference. Since 1995, petroleum conferences have been held annually in Beijing. |
