Air Strike Paralyzes French SkiesFrench air traffic controllers went on strike Monday to protest privatization, paralyzing flights in and out of France and affecting all of the country's airlines and airports. Up to 90% of flights were expected to be canceled at the height of the 24-hour strike, according to the General Direction for Civil Aviation. On an average Monday, there are about 7,500-7,600 flights in France. The state-run train authority said it provided 5,000 extra seats over the weekend to help compensate for canceled flights between Paris and major French and other European cities.
