Chinese Vice Premier Meets British GuestChinese Vice Premier Wu Bangguo and British Defense Secretary Geoffrey Hoon met Tuesday, reviewing the smooth development of bilateral ties.Wu said cooperation in all areas between China and Britain has also increased. The Chinese government greatly values its relationship with Britain, and is willing to strive for a long-term, stable, and healthy growth of bilateral ties based on the principles of mutual respect, seeking common ground while preserving differences, equality and mutual benefit, and common development, he said. He said this is in the best interest of the two peoples and the overall development of bilateral ties, and will also contribute to peace and stability in the world. Wu also briefed Hoon on China's domestic situation, and the position of the Chinese government on the issue of Taiwan and other global matters. Hoon agreed that the bilateral relationship is advancing well because both sides are working together to that end. He also expressed the hope that his current visit would further stimulate cooperation between the two countries and their armed forces.
