CPC Members Exceed 63 Million
The ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) now boasts over 63 million members, according to sources from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.
By the end of last year, there were 63.5 million CPC members. Of this figure, women CPC members accounted for 17 percent and ethnic minority members 6.2 percent.
Statistics show that there are 14.2 million CPC members under 35 years of age.
Nearly half of the CPC members have diplomas or degrees above the senior middle school level, the sources said.
The number of CPC members with master degrees is 363,000 and those who have university or college degrees is 12.1 million.
About half of the CPC members are workers and farmers. The number of professionals account for 12.2 percent, party cadres 9.1 percent and managers 9.7 percent.
At present, the CPC have 3.51 million grass-roots units across the country.
