Religious Freedom Fully Observed in Tibet
A Tibetan researcher of religious affairs said that China's religious freedom policies are fully observed in Tibet, and nobody can deny it.
Losang, a local research fellow with the Committee of Ethnic Groups and Religious Affairs of Tibet, told Xinhua in an interview that the Chinese government treats every religion and sect equally without discrimination, and the government's policies on religion have won wide support from all ethnic groups, religious leaders and believers in Tibet, southwest China.
The government has allocated more than 300 million yuan (about 37 million U.S. dollars) for the renovation of temples and other buildings for religious use in Tibet, the researcher said.
"Now Tibet's religion is in a golden period in history," he said.
More than one million believers from both other parts of China and abroad visit the famous Jokhang Temple in Lhasa every year, he noted.
"Many religious figures in Tibet are also shouldering important government posts," he pointed out.
