Shanghai Sees Highest TemperatureShanghai residents met with their hottest day of this summer on June 26, with the highest temperature reaching 35 degrees Celsius -- a rarity during the rainy period in the southern Yangtze River region.Blue skies and bright sunshine brightened local people's outlook after nearly two weeks of drizzling rain. University students flocked to air-conditioned libraries on campuses to prepare for the college entrance exams on July 7-9. Comfortably-chilled department stores and buses were filled with people dodging the heat, and sunglasses, sun shades, icy drinks and fruit sold extremely well throughout the city. Cafes, tea houses and bars, which normally have few daytime customers, had tables filled with thirsty customers all day long. Weather forecasters predict the 35-degree temperature will continue through Tuesday.
