Bangladesh Reiterates Support for One-China Policy

Terming China as a valuable development partner, Bangladeshi President Shahabuddin Ahmed Monday reiterated his country's support for "One-China Policy".

"The 'friendship bridges' in Bangladesh are powerful symbols of Bangladesh-China friendship," the president told outgoing Chinese Ambassador Wang Chungui when he made a courtesy call on the president Monday.

Shahabuddin appreciated the valuable contributions made by the ambassador in further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and China.

He thanked China for the financial assistance for the construction of Bangabandhu International Convention Center used for holding the 13th Non-Aligned Movement summit next year, saying that the government and the people of Bangladesh are waiting to receive Chinese President Jiang Zemin soon in Bangladesh.

Ambassador Wang hoped that the cooperation between the two countries would be further strengthened in the future.
