MOE Approves Setup of 47 Higher Learning Institutions

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has approved the setup of 47 institutions of higher learning, including 39 regular colleges and 8 vocational schools, all of which will enroll students this year, said a MOE official on Monday.

An official from the Development and Planning department of MOE pointed out that such a measure will help to change the current situation where most institutions of higher learning are located in provincial capital cities.

The 39 colleges, most of which located in comparatively developed cities, include Tangshan Normal College, Langfang Normal College, Nanjing Xiaozhuang College, and Huainan Normal College.

The 8 vocational schools include the Nanjing Forest Police Academy, the Shanxi Police Academy, and the Hunan No.1 Normal School.

Experts say such a measure will greatly reform higher education in China
