Spain Keen to Promote Relations with China: PM

Visiting Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar said Monday that Spain is fully prepared to promote its relations with China in political, economic and cultural areas.

He told a press conference that it is time for Spain to strengthen its relations with China and other Asian countries, and he added that his China tour will help promote bilateral relations in various fields.

Aznar said that his visit has promoted political dialog as well as economic and cultural links between the two countries. He also spoke highly of China's economic achievements over the past two decades.

On the human rights issue, he said that Spain stands for constructive dialogues with China on the issue, instead of confrontation.
