Symposium on Promoting Ethnic Minority Officials Held in Beijing

A symposium on promoting ethnic minority officials opened Monday in Beijing in response to the central government's strategy to develop western China which hosts a large ethnic population.

The symposium focuses on the current and future objectives and the detailed measures to train and promote ethnic minority officials.

The symposium was sponsored by the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, and Zhang Bolin, deputy head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the symposium.
