Senior CPC Official Meets Mauritanian GuestsWei Jianxing, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Monday with Mohamed Yehdhih Ould Moctar El Hacen, visiting general secretary of the Mauritanian Democratic and Social Republic Party (PRDS).Wei, who is also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said that China and Mauritania have supported each other since the establishment of bilateral ties in 1965, and have carried out exchanges in numerous fields. China is grateful for Mauritania's adherence to the one-China policy and its support on human rights, Wei said, adding that China hopes to work together with Mauritania to realize overall development of bilateral relations in the new century. Wei also noted that the friendly ties between the CPC and the PRDS have helped increase mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and two countries. The CPC treasures its cooperation with the PRDS, and hopes to promote party-to-party relations and state-to-state ties in the new century, he added. Hacen said that Mauritania believes that the CPC and the Chinese people are fully capable of dealing with all kinds of problems and make greater achievements in the cause of national construction. He also hoped that the friendly ties between Mauritania and China would be further consolidated through his current visit. The Mauritanian guests are here at the invitation of the CPC.
