Li Peng Arrives in Ukraine for Official Visit

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, arrived at the Simferopol airport from Azerbaijan Saturday for an official goodwill visit to Ukraine.

Li was welcomed at the airport by deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Supreme Council, Stepan Gavrish.

He is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, Parliament Speaker Ivan Plyushch and Prime Minister Viktor Yushchenko during his three-day stay.

Ukraine is the last leg of his six-nation tour, which also includes Yugoslavia, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia and Azerbaijan.
