China to Use Special Ink to Protect CurrencyChina will soon use optically variable ink (OVI) in producing its Renminbi currency, which will enable people to pick out a fake 100 yuan note at a glance. The ink will make colors of the note change from light green to darker green or nearly black when viewed from different angles, according to Sunday's Business Weekly. The paper says that China has focused on the development of high-tech banknote printing and minting in recent years to " enhance the safety of the Renminbi." The use of the technology will make China the third country in the world that can produce this special ink after Switzerland and the United States, the paper says. |
