Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Friday met with Torii Eiko, widow of Torii Sakio, the late Japanese advisor to Tianjin Port.
Li said that the Chinese people will remember old Japanese friends and make public their contributions to Sino-Japanese relations, and this is the fine tradition of the Chinese nation and serves to further develop the friendship between the two countries.
Li said that he was happy to meet with Eiko in Beijing, and the meeting reminds him of Sakio's contributions to the friendship between Tianjin and Kobe and the two countries as well.
Sakio, who served as an advisor to Tianjin port from 1983 to 1987, devoted himself to improving management of the port, and was praised by Chinese leaders.
