Largest Wooden Buddha in China Found

Archaeologists have discovered a rare figure of Buddha carved in wood and said to be the largest of its kind so far found in China, in the Taiyin Temple, Jiangxian County, Shanxi Province.

The statue, in a recumbent posture, is 4.6 m long and 1.6 m in diameter.

The temple was built some 1,500 years ago, and the wooden Buddha was made some 1,000 years ago.
