China Adopts New Measures to Develop 'Holiday Tourism'

Last year, the State Council decided to prolong the statutory holidays, forming three "Golden Weeks" for holiday tourism, namely, the Spring Festival, the International Labor Day (May 1) and the National Day (October 1), which has promoted the development of Chinese tourism and relevant industries like railways, nevertheless, due to inadequate preparation and supply, some problems have emerged.

It's reported that National Day holidays this year will last from October 1 to 7.

The State Council calls on departments concerned to meet the tourists' demand as far as possible and to ensure the safety of tour transportation. Tourist enterprises should reinforce management, build good ranks of personnel and try to raise service level. Other service departments such as commerce, catering, banking, post and telecom, medical care should better their service according to market demands.
