HK's "Project Hope" Donations Over 500 Million

Donations from Hong Kong for inland "Project Hope" have exceeded 500 million yuan in helping over 235,000 dropouts and setting up over 1,600 primary schools, according to statistics lately released.

Hong Kong Textile Trade Union has been known as the first donator of "Project Hope''. Construction of the first Hope school began at Shaoguan in Guangdong Province in 1992 and was completed the next year. In 1998, the first donator set about to build another Hope school in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, which was completed in 1999. Of many "Project Hope" donators, Hong Kong Baolian Temple is one having every possible effort made to help the country develop inland education. Schools completed or under construction with funds from it have exceeded one hundred in China.
