China Bans Random Charging for Rural Power Grid Projects

China's pricing departments will increase efforts to curb unauthorized fee collections and price hikes arising from power grid improvement projects in rural areas.

In a circular issued today by the State Development Planning Commission said the improvement projects are aimed at promoting rural economic development and alleviating the burden of farmers.

The central government has allocated special funds for the projects, the circular said, demanding not to charge extra fees from farmers.

Any fee collections must be accompanied by authorized taxation receipts. The directive warns that whoever violates the regulations will be punished in accordance with law.
