China Sells Six More Transport Planes to KenyaKenya Wednesday bought six Yun-12 transport planes from China, its second such purchase since it bought six planes of the same kind two years ago.G. Otieno, chief officer with the logistics department of the Kenyan Air Force, said, "After two years of trials, we are satisfied with the quality of the Yun-12." Otieno and Cui Xuewen, board chairman of Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation Group (HAMCG), attended the handover ceremony, and signed the contract. The Yun-12 is multi-functional light transport plane able to take off and land on short and basic airstrips. It Was Developed by HAMCG in 1980. Since the first export of this model to Sri Lanka in 1986, about 20 countries and regions in Asia, Africa, South America and Oceania have bought 86. So far, HAMCG has developed about eight models of the plane, and one of them, the Yun-12 IV, received a certificate of approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 1995. |
