Cliff Inscriptions Discovered in E. China

Chinese archeologists have found two ancient inscriptions carved on cliffs on Mount Yushan near the city of Changshu in east China's Jiangsu Province.

The inscriptions, believed to have been carved during the Song Dynasty (960-1297), were found by a team of archaeologists from the Changshu Museum and Suzhou Museum in a dense forest.

According to the Changshu archives, the mountain has a number of historic heritage sites.

One inscription reads, "Hill of the Sorcerer Premier," and the other, "Dragon Gate."

A local legend has it that in the 13th century BC, during the Shang Dynasty, a local sorcerer had the status of prime minister.
