President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Beijing Thursday morning, kicking off his five-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
This is President Khatami's first China trip. His 170-odd entourage includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Kharazi, Minister of Defense and Logistics Ali Shamkhani, and other senior officials, entrepreneurs and journalists.
President Jiang Zemin is expected to hold formal talks with President Khatami this afternoon.
