Chinese Vice President Meets Tunisian Delegation

Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao met with a delegation of Tunisia's Democratic Constitutional Rally (DCR) Wednesday.

Hu extended warm welcome to the delegation headed by General Secretary Abderrahim Zouari, and spoke highly of Sino-Tunisian friendship, which enjoys a long history.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1964, friendly cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, cultural and other sectors has witnessed steady progress, Hu said, adding China appreciates the Tunisian government's position on strengthening relations with China and firmly adhering to the One-China Policy.

The CPC and the DCR have deepened their mutual understanding and friendship through candid communication since they established contact, which has greatly helped develop bilateral ties, he said.

The CPC is willing to further expand cooperation with the DCR based on the four principles governing inter-party relationship to promote and develop ties in the new century, he added.

He also spoke highly of the contributions made by President Ben Ali, also chairman of the DCR, on relations between the two parties and the two countries.

Zouari said he is delighted at China's achievements and to learn about the efforts of the CPC in developing bilateral relations.
