E-business Faces Bottleneck in China: Official

The development of E-business in China is facing bottleneck problems stemming both from traditional industry and new industry, according to Deng Shoupeng, an official with the Development Research Center under the State Council.

Deng told the annual convention of the Information Infrastructure and Economic Development Research Center under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in this north China port city that the first problem is that online payment is still not available, because of security worries, and so most consumers buy goods on the net but pay for them in cash, said Deng.

Another problem is that E-business dealers in China need to establish their reputations, said the official, and the government will further regulate their operations.

He said that he believes that information services and goods distribution via the net will make progress along with the development of market competition.

Authentication is a key factor in the further development of E- business, said Deng, as it covers the fields of information security, technology and product quality. So it must be conducted under government supervision.
