China Has 1,100 E-business Websites

China now has a total 1,100 websites engaged in e-businesses, according to Lu Xinkui, a vice-minister of Information Industry.

Lu disclosed the figures in Beijing on Wednesday at a ceremony to mark the setting-up of the China E-Trade Association.

The development of e-business calls for a sound infrastructure including the spreading of networks, expanding of bands, improvement of a verification system and safety measures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.

According to the official, the number of Chinese Internet users has surpassed 10 million.

His ministry has been studying major issues surrounding the development of e-business in China and is working to help the fledgling sector grow.
