Tianjin to Become Ceramics Trading Center in North China

North China's Tianjin Municipality has risen to become the biggest trading center of ceramics products in north China, with an annual ceramics trading turnover of more than five billion yuan.

A total of seven wholesale markets have been set up in the municipality for trading of ceramics and other building materials.

The markets have attracted more than 800 ceramics producers from 14 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

The annual sales of ceramics in the 800,000 sq. m. marketplace already exceeds five billion yuan in total and over 1000 varieties of ceramics products are traded here and transported to Beijing, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, northwestern and northeastern China regions.

The active trading in the seven markets also brings the uncultivated alkaline land and old warehouses into full use, while four abandoned cargo docks in the city were also reconstructed to meet the surging demand, which handle a total of 8,000 tons of ceramics and other building materials daily at present.

The flourishing ceramics markets in the municipality are bringing Tianjin closer to its goal to become the biggest trade and commercial center in north China, municipal officials said.
