Liaoning Sees Big Rise In Five-Month ExportsNortheast China's Liaoning Province reported a 42.5 percent year-on-year rise to more than 22 billion yuan worth of exports during the January-May period this year.Local sales in the five months grew by 5.4 percent from a year earlier. From January to April, the province conducted 5.45 billion US dollars worth of foreign trade, up 45 percent from 1999, including three billion US dollars of exports and 2.4 billion US dollars of imports. Exports by local private enterprises in the first five months of this year were nearly seven times the figure in the same period last year, with imports grew by 610 percent. Exports and imports by local overseas-funded firms grew by more than 50 percent. The province exported 2.26 billion US dollars worth of manufactured goods, a 42.5 percent increase from the same period of 1999. |
