ICBC Launches Online Banking Business in 31 Cities

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) has lately launched its online banking business in 27 cities including Shenzhen and Xiamen. The bank has so far opened such business in all told 31 cities in China.

It has been widely appreciated by clients since the online banking business was opened in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangzhou in last February. To meet the needs of the broad masses of clients, the ICBC has decided, as from June 10 on, to extend its business to Shenzhen, Xiamen, Qingdao, Dalian, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Foshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, Zhanjiang, Zhongshan, Shantou, Dongguan, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Wenzhou, Taizhou, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Taizhou, Nantong, Shenyang, Anshan, Fushun, Changchun and Jilin.

Relying on the experience gained from the international advanced "system of remittance, transference and settlement for new fund", the online banking business has been made applicable to companies, enterprises, administrative departments. ICBC will expand its business to the well-developed cities in coastal areas and capital cities of provinces this year and that applicable to private account will soon enter into operation too. At present, clients can enjoy such services as account search, payment for account, financial operation of enterprises and client's certificate management.

ICBC treats safety as of utmost importance. The bank has adopted safety communication encipherment, asymmetrical cipher code accounting, multi-proof fire-wall and other international advanced technologies to make it sure that all online data have been transmitted by encipherment and illegal invasion can be prevented.

As the largest commercial bank in China, ICBC has more than 8.1 million industrial and commercial enterprise customers, it has kept good cooperative relations with over 40,000 enterprises, its business settlement volume accounts for 50% of the national financial system.
