Anti-Poaching Squad Trapped in "No Man's Land"An anti-poaching patrol squad attached to the Hoh Xil Nature Reserve in northwest China's Qinghai Province became trapped in the reserve's vast "no man's land" on June 18.The 13-member squad got trapped when its vehicle broke down and ran out of fuel. The authorities of the nature reserve identified the spot where they are trapped as the juncture of Qinghai Province, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Tibet Autonomous Region, an area where the poaching of Tibetan antelopes is most rampant. The nature reserve administration is now busy preparing a rescue plan. The poaching of rare wild animals such as Tibetan antelopes is rampant in the Hoh Xil area, known as China's largest "no man's land", where more than 20 species of rare animals live. |
