The Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) has resolved to support the political system of the National Resistance Movement in the coming referendum which falls on June 29, the New Vision daily reported Tuesday.
"The UNCCI backs the Movement because of its all-embracing nature," said UNCCI president Bony Katatumba after a one-day meeting between Second Deputy Premier Moses Ali and 45 district chamber chairmen.
The decision to support the Movement was one of the resolutions passed at the meeting, said UNCCI spokesman Vincent Musubire.
Ugandans will choose the Movement or the multi-party system in the coming referendum, in which it is widely believed that the Movement will come out a winner in the east African country.
