China Able to Make Large-Screen Plasma Monitor

A company based in the port city of Ningbo in east China's Zhejiang Province claimed that it has mastered the technology for producing large-screen plasma monitors.

Plasma monitors are used for TV manufacturing and for military purposes. The manufacturing technology is monopolized by Japan and few other countries.

The Tianming Electronics Co. Ltd., a township enterprise in Ningbo City, Zhejiang, developed the technology after inviting a renowned plasma monitor scientist Dr. Sun Boyan and his colleagues.

Tianming Electronics built a laboratory three years for them costing 16 million yuan (about 1.93 million U.S. dollars).

The company has applied for a patent, while the city of Ningbo will market the technology.
