Ethiopia Withdraws Troops From Western Eritrean Town
Ethiopia said Monday that it had withdrawn its troops from Tesseney in western Eritrea after having successfully completed their mission.
Ethiopian government spokesperson Solome Taddesse told reporters that Ethiopian troops had withdrawn from Tesseney to "positions where they can defend themselves", but she declined to elaborate.
Tesseney is about 100 kilometers away from Ethio-Eritrean border, and about 357 kilometers west of Eritrea's capital of Asmara.
Referring to the central warfront, Solome said Ethiopian troops deployed in Eritrean border town of Senefe, about 135 kilometers south of Asmara, would remain in their current positions until the United Nations peacekeeping troops come.
The warfront has become quiet since Ethiopia and Eritrea signed a ceasefire agreement on Sunday, according to the spokesperson, but she stressed that Ethiopia would respond decisively if there is any provocation from Eritrean troops.
