8848.net Signs Deal with SETC

The Shanghai-based 8848.net, China 's largest on-line retailer, clinched a deal on Monday with the State Economic and Trade Commission (SETC) to build e-commerce platform for Chinese enterprises, according to the "China Economic Times".

This is the first cooperative deal between a domestic Internet company and a government department.

Under the agreement, the Economic Information Center under SETC and 8848.net will share resources by opening two windows on the CHINABBC.com of SETC and the 8848.net.

The Economic Information Center will help Chinese enterprises access information from these windows while 8848.net will provide needed technology.

Xiang Xin, deputy director of SETC's market department, noted that 8848.net has a wealth of experience in market exploration, technological development and management. The cooperation will facilitate Chinese enterprises to develop faster by utilizing e- commerce platform.

Tan Zhi, president of 8848.net, said that the two sides worked hard to set up the initial establishment of the enterprise platform in three months. They will then choose more large enterprises for trial operation.
