Conference Features Tibetan MedicineThe first international Tibetan traditional medicine conference will be held July 15-17 in Lhasa, capital city of the Tibet Autonomous Region.China's Ethnic Medicine Institute, Tibetan Health Bureau and Tibetan Medical College will co-host the conference. The conference has received more than 500 research papers from China and abroad. The organizing committee primarily selected 290 articles to be discussed at the conference. More than 50 foreign guests from the United States, Russia, Britain, India, Germany, France, Italy and Nepal as well as 60 experts from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will attend the meeting. The Chinese mainland will send a delegation consisting of 250 Tibetan medicine experts to the conference. Tibetan traditional medicine has a 1,300-year-long history. Based on unique Tibetan geographic and weather conditions, Tibetan medicine combines Chinese traditional medicine, Indian medicine and Arabian medicine to form a unique medical theory system and strong practicability. China has protected and encouraged the development of Tibetan traditional medicine. There are 57 special Tibetan medicine hospitals, three Tibetan medicine research institutes and 3,000 Tibetan medical staff across China. Tibetan medicine is now very popular in Chinese western regions like Gansu, Sichuan, Qinghai and Yunnan provinces. |
