China to Promote Industrialization of Nuclear Technology

It is learned from the first China Nuclear Technology Industrialization Symposium held in Chengdu that the Chinese government will adopt active measures to promote the industrialization of China's nuclear technology.

Sources say that concerned ministries and commissions are considering to formulate relevant policies to push the nuclear technology to enter the market in an extensive way and to form industrialization. This includes the creation of a good social environment for the industrialization of nuclear technology through in-depth and sustained science popularization education to raise society's comprehensive and correct understanding of nuclear technology. Meanwhile, the government is planning to establish an organization with coordination and service as the purpose to give full impetus to the industrialization of nuclear technology and formulate a concrete plan to promote this project, striving to include it into the overall State plan for economic development, so as to obtain long-term and stable State support for the said project.

The symposium, jointly sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, China National Nuclear Corporation and the Chinese Academy of Sciences£¬summarized in particular the successful experiences gained in the industrialization of China's nuclear technology in recent years and discuss the problems needing urgent solutions and necessary measures to be adopted in the process of furthering the progress of the industrialization.

It is said that since the founding of New China, abundant technological and talent resources have been accumulated in the nuclear field. Nuclear power has become a new energy industry. In addition,, related technology including nuclear irradiation technology, low-temperature plasma technology, ion beam infusing technology, isotope technology and nuclear exploration technology have been widely used in many fields and branches of learning, such as industry, agriculture, medicine, bioengineering, electronic information, material and environmental protection. Some of the nuclear technology has taken an initial shape of industrialization.

However, experts think that restricted by the management system and the operational mechanism, there still exists a fairly big gap between China and the developed countries in the industrialization of the country's nuclear technology , there is an urgent need to adopt some positive supporting and motivating measures.
