China Exports First Nuclear Power Station to Pakistan

The Chashma Nuclear Power Station, China's largest nuclear industry export item, has successfully generated electricity at 16:05 June 13 Pakistani local time and 19:05 Beijing time in Pakistan, which marks the great success made by China in its first nuclear power station export.
With a designed generating capacity of 300,000 kw, the station is a cooperative item between China and Pakistan, constructed by China National Nuclear Cooperation and China Nuclear Construction Cooperation, the main part of the station started construction on August 1, 1993 by using the successful experience of Qinshan Nuclear Power Station. Chinese technicians and workers have tackled various difficulties and special problems they encountered in building the station for the first time. The first nuclear fuel charge has been completed in November 1999.
After completing full power operation, the station will be formally handed over to Pakistan, as is reported.
