Ethiopia, Eritrea Sign Peace Accord

Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin and his Eritrea counterpart, Haile Woldensae, signed a peace agreement in Algiers Sunday to end their two-year-old border war.

The peace deal calls for an immediate truce and the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force in a 25-kilometer buffer zone in Eritrea until the border between the two countries is demarcated.

Present at the signing ceremony was Algerian President and current OAU Chairman Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
