Chinese Monopolize Golds at Japan Open Table Tennis Tourney

China took a clean sweep of all the four golds at stake at the Japan Open table tennis championships in Kobe, Japan, on Sunday.

Wang Liqin defeated world silver medallist Ma Lin 21-18, 22-20, 18-21, 18-21, 21-18 in an all-Chinese victory.

In the women's singles final, world champion Wang Nan edged past her teammate Li Ju 21-11, 22-20, 20-22, 19-21, 21-12 to defend her women's singles trophy.

With the win, Wang avenged her loss in the China Open final to Li, the 1998 Japan Open champion.

In the semi-finals, Wang defeated Ryu Ji-Hye of South Korea 21- 12, 21-11, 21-18, while Li downed Seoul Olympic champion Chen Jing of Chinese Taipei 21-11, 21-13, 21-11.

Kong Linghui, the 1998 singles champion at Japan Open, teamed up with Atlanta Olympic dual champion Liu Guoliang to win the men' s doubles title beating Chiang Peng-lung and Chang Yuan-su of Chinese Taipei 21-11, 21-18.

Sun Jin and Yang Ying defended the women's doubles crown when they defeated their compatriots Zhang Yining and Zhang Yingying 15- 21, 21-14, 21-15.
