Expansion of Two Major Ports

The expansion of China's two major ports of Xiamen and Shenzhen, has recorded steady growth in the last two months, according to the "China Shipping Weekly".

The port of Xiamen in east China's Fujian province has started to build a shipping channel which will be able to carry 100,000- ton ships. The project, with a total investment of 58 million yuan, is expected to be finished in one year.

Meanwhile, the construction of a container dock at Shenzhen Yantian Port, with a total investment of 3.9 billion Hong Kong dollars, has already been completed. The project will have an annual handling capacity of 1.2 million TEUs.
