Henan Gives Birth to 5.6 Million Less People in 10 Years

Henan Province, one of the largest populous provinces in China, has given birth to 5.6 million less people in the past decade, saving 106 billion-yuan cost of upbringing for families and the country.

Materials show that the population growth rate of Henan has been lower than the national average for eight straight years.

Presently, the total population of Henan has reached 93.87 million. Sources say that its population will continue to grow in the coming dozen years even if it keeps a low birth rate, and it's expected that annual birth will be around 1.2 million persons and the net annual growth over 700,000 persons.

Henan is a large province of agriculture in China and the rural residents account for 80 percent of the province's population. The influence of the traditional child-bearing concept will continue to exist for a certain period of time.
