Shanghai Shenhua Beats Qingdao Hainiu to Stop Losing Streak

Two second-half goals lifted Shanghai Shenhua to a 2-0 victory over Qingdao Hainiu in the 14th round of China's first division soccer league on Sunday, bringing an end to the host's two-game losing streak.

Shenhua, who lost their last league match to minnows Shenzhen Ping'an and was eliminated by lower division team Changchun in the Football Association Cup, mounted all-out attacks from the outset.

Shen Si and the team's foreign player Rankovic each blasted the ball onto the crossbar once in the first half, which was branded " the best 45 minutes the team ever played at home this year" by Shenhua head coach Ljupko Petrovic.

Shenhua's Yugoslavian player Dejan Saric opened the scoring only four minutes into the second half. Liu Jun passed the ball from right to the penalty area for Saric to blast it home.

Six minutes later Wu Chengying was fouled in the area. Wu was awarded a spot kick, which was converted by Rankovic.

In Chongqing, Chongqing Longxin scored their first-ever home win over Shenyang Haishi by beating the visitors 3-0.

In Chengdu, Yao Xia scored once and assisted in the other goal as Sichuan Quanxin crushed Shenzhen Ping'an 2-0.

In Sunday's other actions, Liaoning whitewashed Xiamen Xiaxin 5- 0 at home and Yunnan Hongta lost to Shandong Taishan 1-0 in Kunming, Yunnan province.

Beijing Guo'an lost at home to Dalian Shide 2-1 while Jilin Aodong and Tianjin Taida fought to the only draw on Sunday when the two sides tied 2-2.
