Beijing Law Hotline Receives 200,000 Calls

A legal services hotline which opened in Beijing June 1 last year, has received 200,000 calls so far, according to an official source.

The hotline, the number of which is 1600148, was opened to provide legal consultations to the public by the justice department. In the one year of its existence it has offered law consultation to more than 70,000 callers, the source said.

In order to serve more people, the source added, staff members of the hotline also publish a bulletin to spread the information they collect from the hotline conversations. In addition, they have opened an Internet homepage to present some typical legal cases.
