Asian Development Bank Opens Office in Beijing

Asian Development Bank opened its resident mission in Beijing Friday. Chinese Minister of Finance Xiang Huaicheng said at the opening ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing that China wishes to have broader and closer cooperation with ADB.

He said that the ADB resident mission in China will serve as a bridge of cooperation between the two sides.

ADB President Tadao Chino said at the ceremony that the opening of the office marks the beginning of a new era in cooperation between ADB and China. It demonstrated ADB's commitment in providing quality services to China.

China is the third largest shareholder of ADB and one of the major borrowers of the Bank's loans. China joined ADB in 1986.
