Chinese Intermediary Industry Burgeoning

As informed from the recently-held symposium on intermediary service and market economy development China's intermediary industry has seen a swift boom.

However, up to now, there exist only ten professional qualifications, 20 thousand qualified professionals in social intermediary profession for the type of economic assessment.

Xiang Huaicheng, Minister of the Ministry of Treasury says at the meeting that the major reasons for a vigorous development of intermediary industry are the great attention given by the government, market demand, open domestic service market, the introduction of competition mechanism. It also has things to do with the acceleration of world economic integration, increasingly strong and diversified demand of intermediary service. At present, the intermediary service has become one of the important means adopted by the government to administer social affairs and play an important role in maintaining economic order, promoting economic development. It has now become a reputed assessor for enterprise management, witness of enterprise financial situation, defender of investors' interests, guide of capital flow, and supervisor of social economic activities.

Xiang Huaicheng points out that due to the late development of the trade in China, the gap is still wide as concerns the personnel quality, sense of service, professional quality and technical level if compared with its international counterparts. The Chinese government is now engaged in standardizing the construction of medium service market based on the model as stipulated by laws, supervision by government, self-management as required by profession. To improve market rules, it is necessary to break through departmental monopoly and regional blockade so that it is able to establish a professional intermediary service system in conformity with China's national conditions and also compatible to international practices.
